Cadence Quaranta starts as a Reporter at TaiwanPlus

Cadence teaching elementary school students in Taipei

Cadence Quaranta, the David R. Schweisberg Scholarship winner in 2022, has started as a reporter at TaiwanPlus, an English-language broadcast news organization based in Taipei. Cadence covers Taiwan and China, as well as stories across Asia.

Prior to her new role, Cadence taught English through a Fulbright grant at an elementary school in Taiwan. Cadence was constantly fascinated by the societal, cultural and geopolitical issues that converged within her classrooms. The experience made her eager to continue learning about Taiwan, as well as Asia as a whole, and to cover the region as a reporter.

Before moving to Taiwan, Cadence worked as a breaking news reporter at The Baltimore Banner, covering a wide range of topics. She is a Baltimore native, and lived and attended school in China as a child.
